Of course, often it’s not practical to cancel Optimum service on exactly the right day. If you’re moving in the middle of your billing cycle, you’ll need internet before you move. When that’s the case, you can try calling the month before the move to request Optimum adjust your billing cycle to end the day before you move. It’s possible they’ll be willing to help with this, but not necessarily. Either way, once you know when you want to cancel, it’s time to call.

Once you get to a human, tell them you need to cancel Optimum service. So it is recommend saying you’re moving service to outside Optimum’s service area. That’s the easiest way how to cancel Optimum without them trying to convince you to stay. Optimum’s retention department’s job is to offer you promotions to get you to keep service.
